Psalm 56:3
When I Am Afraid
When I am afraid, I will put my trust in you.
Everybody is afraid of something.
Some people are afraid of the dark. Some are afraid of dogs, or thunder, or the first day at a new school. Grown ups are afraid too. They are only better at hiding it.
The man who wrote this verse was in real trouble when he wrote it. Notice what he did not say. He did not say I am never afraid. He said, when I am afraid, I will trust in you.
He was still frightened. He trusted God anyway.
Being brave is not feeling nothing. Being brave is being scared and holding God’s hand at the same time.
Something to talk about: What makes you feel afraid? What helps you feel safe again?
