What we do not collect from your child, said plainly and without the usual paragraph of legal fog.

What We Never Ask a Child For

None of this is ever collected by HeartFelt Kids, and none of it ever reaches us.

  • A name.
  • An email address.
  • A phone number.
  • A school, a town, or any other location.
  • A photograph, a birthday, or an age.
  • A password, because there is nothing here to sign in to.

The Two Programs That Save Something on Your Device

Please read this one if your child uses My Address Adventure or Important Numbers Adventure.

These two are in the Learning section so a child can learn the things that matter if they are ever lost: where they live, and the phone numbers of the people who look after them. A program cannot teach a child their own address without being told what it is, so a grown up types it in, behind a PIN a child is not meant to know.

It is saved on your device and nowhere else. What you type is kept by your own browser, in the same place a website remembers that you prefer the sound turned off. It is not sent to HeartFelt Kids, it does not reach us, and we could not read it if we wanted to. There is no part of these programs that is able to send it anywhere.

You can remove it whenever you like. Open the Grown-Ups screen inside the program and delete what is there, or clear the site data for HeartFelt Kids in your browser settings, which removes all of it at once.

One thing worth thinking about first. Because it stays in the browser, anybody else who uses that browser on that device can open the program and see it. On a family tablet at home that is exactly what you want. On a shared computer at a library or a school, we would not put a home address into it.

No Accounts, No Advertising, No Tracking

Three things that are absent by design rather than turned off.

No child accounts. HeartFelt Kids has no sign up, no login, and no profiles. Nothing your child does is saved to a record of them, because there is no record of them to save it to.

No advertising. There are no adverts anywhere on the site and no advertising networks in the pages, so nothing is building a picture of your child in order to sell to them later.

No behavioral tracking. We do not track which songs your child plays, which stories they read, or how long they stay. The one place on the site that says a song is popular with families was chosen by hand, not by watching anybody.

No outside players. Songs and videos play in our own player, from our own files. Nothing is embedded from an outside video site, so no unrelated recommendations appear and no other company sees your child arrive.

Reading aloud. The programs that speak use the voice already built into your device, and they ask for one your device can produce on its own before any other. A few devices only offer voices that are made over the internet by the company that makes the browser or the phone. Where that is the only voice there is, the word being read is what goes to them, and nothing about your child goes with it.

What the Site Does Keep

A short list, and all of it comes from a grown up choosing to send it.

If you fill in the contact form, the suggestion box, or the custom song request, we keep what you typed and email it to ourselves so it is not lost if a mail server refuses it. That is a name and an email address only if you chose to give them, and both are optional on the suggestion box.

We use it to read your message and to write back. We do not sell it, we do not add it to an advertising list, and we do not hand it to anybody else.

Like almost every website, the server that hosts HeartFelt Kids records ordinary technical information such as the addresses of pages requested, so that pages can be delivered and faults can be found. That is a function of the web host rather than something we added.

The songs and videos are delivered from audio.heart-feltpublishing.com. That is a Heart-Felt Publishing address, the same family as this site, and Heart-Felt may use its own domains and addresses under them to deliver music, video and pictures securely. Nothing is passed to an outside company by doing that, and listening to a song does not add you or your child to any list.

If you would like a message you sent us deleted, write to rick@heart-feltpublishing.com and say so, and it will be removed.

Cookies

HeartFelt Kids does not use advertising cookies and does not use cookies to follow anybody between websites. There are no comment forms on the site. WordPress, which the site is built on, sets a cookie when somebody signs in to the admin, and that is us rather than you.

Leaving the Site, and Sending Things In

Links that leave HeartFelt Kids are kept few, deliberate, and on the grown up pages. There is nothing on a child facing page that hands them to another website.

There is no gallery for children to upload drawings to. If one is ever added, it will require an adult to send the picture and to give permission, and nothing will appear on the site until a person has looked at it first.

Coloring done in Color Online happens in your own browser, on your own device. Saving a picture downloads it to your computer, and if you use the button that opens a picture of your own, that picture is read straight into the page and never sent anywhere. Nothing a child colors is uploaded to us.

Something Here You Would Like Explained?

  • Ask us. If a parent has to guess what a site is doing with their child, the site has not explained itself well enough, and we would rather fix the wording than leave you wondering.
